Five Ways to Stay Focused in Fall

  • 4 min read

Stay Focused This Fall Season

September 22nd is the fall equinox and the first official day of autumn. After a long and busy summer, it can be hard to keep going on the fall. The weather is colder, the sky is grayer, and activities can feel more tiring than before. Here are five ways you can better enjoy the fall by staying focused.

1. Keep Going Outside

Being outdoors is good for you. We all know this. The problem is, as the temperature gets cooler and rain becomes more frequent, staying outside becomes harder than before.

The sunny days of summer are nice, but the breezy days of fall can be just as special. The way to get excited about the outdoors in the fall is to find something in-season you enjoy.

Try to make the most of the beautiful autumn season by going on an afternoon walk, hike, or bike ride. The most important thing is finding a comfortable activity that you can do consistently. Visiting a pumpkin patch in October or renting a cabin for a weekend are not only things to look forward to, but also great ways to refocus yourself for the rest of the fall.

Being outside is one of the best ways to relieve stress, feel calm, and give your mind a break from a daily routine. Despite the change in season, finding ways to keep going outside is one of the best ways to stay focused in fall.

2. Good Rest Every Day

In autumn, the days are shorter and the nighttime is longer. This gives you a perfect opportunity to get some well-deserved rest before waking up again in the morning. Try your best to spend your time wisely during the day and so when the sun sets, you feel ready to relax and refresh.

The shorter fall days can act as a much-needed break between the busy summer and winter seasons. Don’t feel the same pressure to stay as busy. Instead, focus on allowing yourself to take time out for yourself.

Find your favorite book, wrap yourself up in a warm blanket, and enjoy the peace that comes with the fall nights. Remember to sleep at least eight hours to wake up feeling ready to start the next day.

3. Give Coffee a Shot

If you aren’t a coffee drinker, the fall season may be a good time to start. The pumpkin-spice flavor has made its way on to countless coffee shop menus over the years. The flavor has become a staple fall tradition from the warm and pleasant experience a warm drink can give on a cool fall day. Even if you don’t find yourself taking to festive drinks, there is enough coffee variety for everyone to find their personal favorite.

An important thing to keep in mind is caffeine should supplement the other things on this list, and not being the only takeaway. Work to make yourself more focused and alert so when you do have coffee, you can get the full benefits from it. More importantly, keeping coffee as an occasional indulgence is more enjoyable than making it the only reason you can keep your eyes open.

4. Set New Goals

Fall is a perfect time to pause and reflect. Revisit the reasons you want to become more focused in the first place. Ask yourself, “What are my priorities? What am I working towards? Why do I care?” We can sometimes give ourselves tunnel vision and only look at what we need to do in the present. Fall can be a reminder of how important it is to look up and understand the long-term goal you have in mind.

Every day matters. Setting new goals will give yourself more purpose. All of a sudden, you might find yourself more motivated to do certain things all because you remember why you’re doing them. Focusing in fall may be as easy as reassessing what you want to accomplish and what steps need to be taken to reach that goal.

5. Snack Healthier

You knew this one was coming. One of the best ways to stay focused in the fall is to keep in mind what you are eating. Enjoy a balanced diet, one that gives you the nutrients you need throughout the day without feeling exhausted after a few hours. For some of us, this is going to mean cutting out some foods we love.

We understand how hard it is to change what you eat. If you are looking to replace some sugary foods, Myntz! May be able to help. Our VanillaMynt! flavor is a favorite on our Facebook page. It’s the mint that perfectly mixes smooth vanilla flavor with all-natural peppermint for a sweet, sugar-free taste.

From everyone here at Myntz! Breathmints we hope you enjoy the fall as much as we do. Be well and stay focused this season.
